Dual studies at PWSZ and Pratt & Whitney Kalisz this year!
Pratt & Whitney Kalisz together with the Higher Vocational State School of President Stanislaw Wojciechowski in Kalisz come out with a new proposal for students. This year we will start the dual study program – a combination of full-time studies and a parallel proffessional paid internship.
During 3.5-year first cycle degree program, in addition to lectures and laboratory classes, students will have an opportunity to work at Pratt & Whitney Kalisz. Thanks to that, after graduating, their chances for getting a permanent employment in this company will be much higher.
In the 2018/19 academic year, dual study program will include Faculty of Mechanical and Machinery Engineering. For the first two semesters, learning will take place only as part of the didactic classes at the university. In the second half of the second semester, recruitment for the dual education system will begin. The grade average and the result of the interview conducted by the employer will decide about the qualification of the candidate for the dual study program. The student will start a three-week internship after the second semester of study, and starting from the third semester the classes will take place in an alternating system, i.e. a week of practice and a week of theoretical classes. Each semester will have 7 weeks of apprenticeship (40 hours per week) and 8 weeks of theoretical classes.
On June 11, a letter of intent regarding the launch of dual study program in Faculty of Mechanical and Machinery Engineering was signed by prof. Andrzej Wojtyła, rector of the Kalisz university, and Wojciech Wasik, general director of Pratt & Whitney Kalisz.
– The new form of studying is our response to the needs of the market. On one hand, we give students the opportunity to study in full-time engineering studies program, and on the other hand – a chance for them to gain valuable professional experience at the same time – says prof. Andrzej Wojtyła.
