Plant 1 in Pratt & Whitney Kalisz is a manufacturing facility comprising 4 machining departments consisting of altogether 10 manufacturing cells and the Heat Treatment shop.
Plant 1 in PWK is a Center of Excellence for gears. Individual cells manufacture gears, spiral bevel gears, oil pump gears, planet gears and gearbox accessories.
Our products are produced using the state-of-art machine tools and most sophisticated processes resulting in the top world-class quality.
The increase of the engine number from 2,500 in 2006 to 2,917 in 2007 forced our production growth by 17%. The level of 3,755 engines forecast for 2008 means another growth by approximately 30% against 2007. Such high increase in demand for our parts necessitated purchases of new machines for the most overloaded manufacturing cells in order to meet the production growth and maintain our on-time delivery rate.
In the last quarter of 2007 and the first half of 2008 Plant 1 acquired a number of crucial machine tools.
In November 2007 the Carrier Cell, which manufactures carriers received a new coordinate grinding machine Hauser.
In December 2007 the Gear Cell received a new CNC lathe Mori Seiki. In the first half of 2008 the same cell got another two new machines: a CNC Mori Seiki lathe and an external grinding machine Tacchella.
In Q4 2007 the Accessory Cell received a new CNC Mori Seiki lathe and a new Liebherr hobbing machine. In the first half of 2008 this cell got other machines: a Kapp gear grinding machine, a Liebherr gear shaping machine and a Tacchella external grinding machine in the second half of 2008.
In the first half of 2008 the Coupling Cell received a new Gleason gear shaping machine.
In Q2 2008 the Planet Gear Cell received a new Gleason gear shaping machine.
The above capital investments will help maintain the proper level of manufacturing machine loading and consequently will ensure the adequate manufacturing.
